It's been a long time coming to make an album with Donny and this crew. The album was made over the course of about nine months in three 2-day bursts (with Donny working overtime in between).

As for the songs, the oldest here was written while recording Pop City, and the newest ones were written after my move to Philly. This started as a 5 song EP of left over tunes that I was gonna call "clunkers," but after the first session it felt right to flesh it out a bit more, so I included 16 years, which is a newer one, and I wrote "churns" which seemed to tie it all together. This album is sort of a bridge between two worlds for me.

Time to move on was recorded in the spring before Petty died, and was meant to be a living tribute to him and to my friends who've gotten so much mileage out of steady Petty.

Thanks to the guys for making it over to Stanfordville to record these songs, thanks to Ryan for making it sound pro in the end, and thanks to Donny for putting so much care into it and for getting me to come up and record in the first place.

More is on the way.
